Parkinson’s Awareness Month

April is almost upon us and as this is recognised as Parkinson’s Awareness Month, I’d like to offer a few thoughts in support of those people I know who are living with the condition or have loved ones who are sharing their tribulations

Parkinson’s Awareness Month, which includes Parkinson’s Awareness Week (April 6th – 12th) and World Parkinson’s Awareness Day on April 11th, offers the opportunity to learn about the condition and support those affected by it.

Various activities and events are organised to help spread the word and encourage research for treatments and potentially a cure.

Physical Activity is still possible, and very beneficial to people living with Parkinson’s. I have worked with individuals on gentle strength and balance training, as well as flexibility and range of motion. I can appreciate that whilst movements and coordination can be more challenging as the condition progresses, it is absolutely still achievable to help manage the symptoms .
